Goodbye, old friend...

Changing a password is like losing an old friend. After all, I've spent a significant amount of time repeatedly typing in its letter-number-punctuation combination. Those wonderful little symbols meant something to me!

But alas, the time has come for a password overhaul:

Me? Victim of a hack attempt? I always thought it was just the idiots using "password123" that found their e-mail or Facebook accounts hacked. Now, though they didn't know it at the time, consider this a public apology for any and all judgement cast upon my victimized friends. It was harsh, very harsh, and I am sorry.

*I hate having to add this disclaimer, but I fear that some people might actually feel bullied. Just know that I only judged you a little bit.

*Again, that was sarcasm (just in case you're a total weenie).

Anyhow, upon seeing that e-mail, I FREAKED OUT. I used virtually the same password for everything (see? I'm the idiot here), only with minor variations between accounts. In order to make myself feel better, I've decided that this Turkish hacker has been trying for years and FINALLY cracked the code.

Needless to say, I immediately went out and changed the password for any accounts I use at least semi-regularly. How does goodluckfiguringthisoneout678 sound? I thought it was clever. A little long, but it'll do. Here's to another eight years of hack-free interwebbing!

bah, My tiny brain only remembers one password for multiple accounts, so I hate changing passwords! You describe the process of changing them so eloquently, haha. Great post!
